Bringing Affordable Housing Up to Par: 2023 Golf Tournament
The Central Valley Habitat for Humanity 3rd Annual Golf Tournament was hugely successful. Central Valley Habitat hosts a golf tournament each spring, raising funds to support ongoing operational costs to run the affiliate. The event also serves as an opportunity to celebrate the many General Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and other contributors in the finance and construction industries, affectionately known as ‘Trade Partners.’ It is vital that we can show our appreciation to our Trade Partners for all of the labor and cost of materials that it takes to build a new home or repair a home in critical need. Our Trade Partners generosity allows Central Valley Habitat to provide low-cost, interest-free mortgages to families in our community.
Our first golf tournament, held at Lakeview Golf Club, raised $37,000 and generated a lot of buzz. The second golf tournament, in 2022, was a rainy day in Harrisonburg. However, we still managed to bring in $42,000 to support our mission to provide affordable housing to those who otherwise could not own their own home. This year’ tournament, in true fashion, continued to raise the bar by topping $60,000 in generous sponsorships.
Each year as we cart around the course to meet the players, we consistently hear how enjoyable, fun, and relaxed the tournament atmosphere is. We hear how much the tournament means to the Trade Partner players, and they always tell us that they will be back next year. We couldn’t ask for better partners with a shared purpose, to bring affordable housing up to par.
