What Constitutes a “Critical” Repair?
Addressing issues of deferred maintenance contributing to a home’s deterioration, diminished functionality, or loss of value.
Restoring or improving the safety or security of the home.
The total value of the repair must be no more than $5000.
If we can say “yes” to at least one of the following questions about a possible repair:
Does it it improve the weather-proofing / water resistance of the home?
Does it improve the energy efficiency of the home?
Does it improve the security of the home and property?
Does it improve the safety of the people living in the home?
Does it improve the resident’s mobility throughout the home?
Does it improve the built environment beyond curb appeal?
Initial Qualifications
To begin the application process families must meet initial qualifications in order to apply. When you arrive at our office, we will ask you if you meet the
following initial criteria:
Permanent Resident or Citizen of the United States at time of application
Must own the home being repaired
Resident living in Harrisonburg or Rockingham County.
The home must be your primary dwelling
Source of income
Willing to submit to credit check
Willing to partner with Habitat to work on your home
Client’s total income is 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) or lower.
Client must have the ability to pre-pay the subsidized repair cost
