Critical Home Repair Program Aids Homeowners

Central Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Critical Home Repair Program aims to provide repairs and renovations to the homes of homeowners in need. These repairs include fixing or replacing roofs, windows, doors, plumbing, electrical systems, and heating systems. The program also helps with accessibility modifications such as wheelchair ramps and bathroom safety modifications.

The CVHFH Critical Home Repair Program is funded by grants from various organizations, including local government agencies and private foundations. The program also relies on donations from individuals and corporate sponsors. Volunteers play a crucial role in the program, as they help with the repairs and renovations. Volunteer opportunities include skilled labor, such as carpentry and electrical work, and general labor, such as painting and cleaning.

To be eligible for the CVHFH Critical Home Repair Program, homeowners must meet certain income and residency requirements. They must also own and occupy the home in need of repairs, and they must not be able to afford the repairs themselves. The program prioritizes repairs that are necessary for the health and safety of the homeowners, accessibility, and the weatherization of the home; as well as repairs that will have the greatest impact on the value of the home.

Your donations and volunteerism not only support families with these repairs, but you are also supporting the hopes, dreams, and histories of these community members and the properties they call home.
