Making an Impact, One Volunteer at a Time

At Central Valley Habitat for Humanity, our mission drives everything we do. Aside from fulfilling dreams by building safe and stable homes, we also operate our Harrisonburg ReStore, a vital part of our community efforts. The ReStore turns donated items — from gently used furniture and appliances to home décor — into funding that directly supports our work in our mission to provide families in need with affordable housing.

The heroes of our ReStore’s success are none other than the volunteers. These dedicated individuals accept, clean, and prepare donations for sale, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for our customers. Their efforts not only keep the store running smoothly but also provide the resources needed to help families achieve the dream of homeownership.

For those who give their time, volunteering at the ReStore is a fulfilling experience. Theresa Smith says, "I get more out of it, I believe, than what I put into it. I see a lot of my friends, and I make new ones. It's just very, very rewarding. I love it." Every single hour that our volunteers contribute at the ReStore is valuable, and it reflects in the impact we have on our community.

You can support Central Valley Habitat in many different ways. While donating items or shopping at the ReStore helps, volunteering your time can have the greatest impact. Together, we can continue to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Every action counts, and with your help, we can ensure more families will have a place to call home.
