Building Hope and Changing Lives

Every year, Bridgewater Retirement Community celebrates Founders Day to commemorate another year of providing vital services. This year, the celebration took on a special meaning as it became a volunteer effort with Bridgewater Retirement Community Residents and Staff working together. We caught up with Craig Landis, a dedicated board member of Bridgewater Retirement Community and an active participant in our Critical Home Repair Program, to highlight the importance of this event.

"There’s no better feeling than seeing the smile on the face of the person you just built a ramp for.” - Craig Landes

Making Homes Sustainable

Craig, who professionally works in the heating and air industry, dedicates his time to our Critical Home Repair program. Unlike our new home construction projects, Critical Home Repair focuses on making homes sustainable for elderly or disabled residents. This includes building handicap ramps, crucial for allowing individuals to stay in their homes comfortably and safely.

During the recent Founders Day celebration at Bridgewater Retirement Community, volunteers gathered to construct ramp sections for upcoming projects. "Everything we're making today is slated for two particular projects that Critical Home Repair plans on completing soon," Craig explained. This hands-on approach makes a tangible difference in people’s lives, and it fosters a sense of community and shared purpose among volunteers.

A Celebration of Service

Craig’s philosophy resonates deeply with our mission: "Everyone should spend some time doing what they can to help others and not expect anything in return except gratitude." Volunteering is not just about the work done; it's about the joy and fulfillment that come from knowing you've made a positive impact in someone’s life.

We invite you to experience this incredible feeling of giving back. Whether you are an individual or part of an organization, your involvement in our projects will undoubtedly benefit someone else’s life. Together, we can build hope and transform lives, one project at a time.
