Honoring 35 Years at our 2023 Annual Banquet

Earlier this month, we celebrated our 35th anniversary with 411 staff, volunteers, trade partners, donors, and local government officials at Hotel Madison. Our Annual Banquet is not only a fundraising event, it is an annual reunion, where members of the Habitat family come together to express their appreciation. The Banquet serves as the primary fundraiser for Central Valley Habitat for Humanity. The funds raised are vital for constructing affordable homes in Rockingham County, the surrounding towns, and the City of Harrisonburg.

Members of the community show their support through table sponsorships and auction participation, which plays a pivotal role in making these dreams of home ownership come true for families within our community. The banquet also provides a unique opportunity for volunteers and supporters to reconnect and strengthen bonds. It's a time to celebrate the shared commitment to making the world a better place, one home at a time.

One of the most touching aspects of the Annual Banquet is the spotlight on the families whose lives have been transformed by Central Valley Habitat for Humanity. The program featured individuals who have been living in their Habitat homes for a while, those who recently moved into new homes, and families eagerly waiting for their turn. Anita Beckman rightly noted, "It's very inspiring to hear their stories." Indeed, these stories of resilience, hope, and transformation are a testament to the profound impact of Habitat's work.

Every home built is not just a structure but a foundation for brighter futures.” Our 35th Anniversary Banquet was not just a celebration of the past but a powerful testament to the enduring spirit of compassion and community. As we reflect on the past 35 years, we are reminded that it is the collective effort of volunteers, builders, and supporters that enables us to continue our vital mission. Every home we build is a symbol of love, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home.
